A weekend family adventure, we traded the familiar hum of the freeway for the rhythmic click-clack of the rails. With our two-year-old daughter in tow, we embarked on our first-ever train journey in the United States, taking the scenic Amtrak Capitol Corridor from the Bay Area to the heart of Sacramento. The excitement of the train ride was just the beginning of a weekend steeped in history and discovery.
Our destination was Old Sacramento, where the golden age of the railroad is still alive and well. We wandered through the historic streets and stepped back in time at the California State Railroad Museum, a perfect stop for our little one, whose eyes widened with every grand locomotive. It was a short but sweet journey, a weekend of small moments and big memories, proving that sometimes the best adventures are the ones that chug along at their own delightful pace.
